AI and smart technology is revolutionising the world. But the advantages are not being universally shared. Some are disadvantaged by digital exclusion or lack of digital skills. AI can also be biased. So, how do we design smart cities that are truly inclusive and work to redress social and economic inequalities rather than exacerbate them? In this workshop we will address the challenge of how to design smart cities that work for all. We will first reflect on a recent Alan Turing Institute funded project we conducted in Leicester and launch a Community Reporter Smart City toolkit. We will then have some structured group tasks before a concluding panel discussion. We are keen to bring into the discussion a wide spectrum of voices from national and local government, businesses, charities, academia and community groups.
